The problem would be that the thermistor is warning of high temperature in the compartment. Knowing that the lights stay on with the door closed, this might be affecting the temperature inside the unit. I was thinking that you were asking if the switch has something to do with the alarm going off because of the heat of the bulb. The door alarm goes off if it senses temperature rise but not through the light door switch. This is a safety feature and there is no adjustment or shutoff for this alarm. When a switch is pressed down it should have NO continuity but when it's not pressed continuity should be present. Model #79577304600 I am thinking of the switch on the diagram labelled 402A. It is installed in the top hinge for the fresh-food compartment door or the freezer door. The switch pops up to turn on the light inside the compartment when the door is opened. Closing the door pushes in the switch and shuts off the light. To determine if the door switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the door switch does not have continuity when activated, replace it. The other switch is located at the bottom 409B which uses the light on the lower compartment but you can also do the test on the other switch just in case.
